Description

A spectacular fractured crater floor!

Humboldt is a remarkable crater is large (207 km diameter) is located about 760 km south of Mare Smythii. The edges of your walls are fractured and partially covered by dark mantle deposits, which are suspected to be pyroclastic in origin. But the most remarkable in all this is his formidable system Rilles almost entirely covering your floor, these Rilles reminiscent of a distinct form a spider web. To our misfortune is a crater that is located very close to the east limb which makes this system Rilles virtually impossible to see from Earth. In the photo below I have attached a photo taken by the probe LROC showing with every definition this spectacular crater.
